STANFORD, Calif. – The No. 5 University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine beach volleyball team picked up a pair of wins on day one of the Bay Area Classic. The SandBows defeated Saint Mary's, 4-1, and No. 19 Arizona State, 5-0,  in their first two matches on the mainland this year.
 
UH (5-2) was impressive in the wins, claiming all nine of its points via straight sets. The 'Bows dropped just one court all day when Saint Mary's Jasmin Suarez and Sienna Young defeated Kylin Loker and Anna Maidment, 21-11, 21-17, at the No. 4 flight.
 
The UH pair, however, bounced back against the nationally-ranked Sun Devils (2-2). Loker and the freshman Maidment – who made her collegiate debut on Saturday – took down Cierra Flood and Lauren Weintraub 21-18, 21-13 at the No. 5 court to power a shutout of ASU. Three of UH's five wins so far this year have come in shutout fashion.
 
The Rainbow Wahine remain undefeated all-time against both Saint Mary's (4-0) and Arizona State (7-0). UH closes out the Bay Area Classic with matches versus Utah at 11:00 a.m. HT and host and No. 20 Stanford at 1:00 p.m. HT on Sunday.
