HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i baseball team shutout North Dakota State on Monday via youthful pitching. The Rainbow Warriors put together their third five-run inning in the past two games and did all their scoring in the first three innings.
The shutout marked the first time since April 15, 2018 that the Rainbow Warriors had not allowed an opponent to score a run.
Redshirt junior
Adam Fogel recorded his first hit of the season for the Rainbow Warriors but didn't stop with just one hit. The designated hitter laced three singles and picked up an RBI in the win.
Junior shortstop
Kole Kaler had his third-straight multi-hit game and redshirt junior infielder
Matt Campos had a two-hit day. Junior center fielder
Matt Wong had a team-high two-RBI on a double in the third inning.
The story line of the game was the new arms that dominated the Bison and allowed just two hits over eight innings to shutout NDSU. Junior left hander
Brandon Ross threw three innings of one-hit and one-walk baseball. Ross faced 13 batters and struck out three.
Sophomore right hander
Li'i Pontes came in and faced the minimum in three innings of work and allowed just one hit.
Freshman right hander
Vince Reilly threw two more innings of flawless work. Reilly faced the minimum six batters and struck out three.
Redshirt freshman
Tyler Dyball pitched the ninth and struck out a batter as the four pitcher's shutout the Bison.
Sophomore outfielder
Scotty Scott has reached base to start the game every game this season after table-setting a two-run first inning on Monday. Scott walked moved to second a single by Kaler and scored on Fogel's base hit. A softly hit looping double into shallow right field by freshman second baseman

Kaler's third triple in as many days plated the Bows' third run of the game in the second inning.
The fifth inning sent the ballgame into cruise control as Hawai'i scored five on three hits, an error and a passed ball. Fogel's second base hit of the game set the tone for the inning. Redshirt junior

Tyler Murray chopped a groundball up the middle and reached when the NDSU shortstop attempted to throw Fogel out at home. Wong sent a 1-1 pitch to the wall in left center field to score Campos from second and Murray from first. Sophomore outfielder
Tyler Best singled and moved to second on the same play via an error. Best moved to third on a ground out and scored on a passed ball.
The Bows will take two days off before hosting Washington State at Les Murakami Stadium for four games Feb. 20-23.
