Voss Wins Program’s First Big West Freshman of the Week Award

IRVINE, Calif. – University of Hawai'i's Guilherme Voss is the recipient of this season's first Big West Conference Freshman Player of the Week award after helping the Rainbow Warriors to a pair of wins over Charleston.

In the third year of Big West Men's Volleyball, Voss is the first UH player to win the weekly freshman award.

The 6-foot-7 middle blocker averaged 1.00 kills and 0.80 blocks per set in his first two career matches. The Rio de Janeiro native hit .500 (5-1-8) with three kills in his debut match and two more in the rematch. In the season-opener, Voss posted three kills, hitting .400 with one block and one dig. On the next night, he tallied two kills on .667 hitting with three blocks.

Voss helped the Warriors to their seventh consecutive season-opening win extend their home win streak to 19 matches dating back to 2018.

UH will next host the Raising Cane's Rainbow Warrior Classic Thursday, Jan. 9 through Saturday, Jan. 11. The four-team tournament features host UH, Grand Canyon, Harvard, and Emmanuel. Matches begin at 4:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m., at the Stan Sheriff Center.
