MALIBU, Calif.—University of Hawai'i women's tennis player
Petra Melounova won her opening match at the ITA Masters tournament in Malibu, Calif. Melounova—the No. 33-ranked player in the ITA Preseason Rankngs, defeated Brindtha Ramasamy (Miami-OH) in straight sets at the Ralph-Straus Tennis Center in Malibu, Calif.
After a close first set which Melounova won by a break, she cruised to win the second set, 7-5, 6-1. Melounova advances to the Round of 16 in the prestigious tournament where she will take on North Carolina's Alexa Graham who defeated Stony Brook's Jamie Wei. Graham is the 4
th-ranked player in the nation and the tourney's No. 6 seed.
