Looking to build off a strong team performance last weekend at the UC Riverside Invitational, the University of Hawai'i women's cross country team is back in action, competing at the Chaminade Invitational this Saturday, September 21 at Kapiolani Park in Waikīkī, O'ahu.
Last week, the Rainbow Wahine were paced by a pair of freshmen,
Sophia Lodigiani and
Rebecca DeKay, who guided UH to a 15
th place finish, while competing in their first collegiate 6k meet. Lodigiani finished 68
th (22:21.5) and DeKay placed 102
nd (22:55.0) for Hawai'i. Crossing the finish line third for the Rainbow Wahine was redshirt sophomore
Olivia Hill, who recorded a 6k PR of 22:59.3. Rounding out the scoring five, freshmen
Sarriah Brown and
Alyssa Barnes finished 114
th (23:18.3) and 117
th (23:22.0) respectively.
Last year at the Chaminade Invitational, the Rainbow Wahine sent out a four-runner squad that saw three-of-the-four harriers finishing within the top 10. With only four runners, Hawai'i was excluded from team scoring.
Race time is slated for 7:00 a.m. HT.
