The University of Hawaii women's cross country team gears up for its first road trip of the season, competing at the 39^th annual UC Riverside Invitational in California on Saturday, September 14^th. The Rainbow Wahine will take part in its first 6k race of the  year.
 
Head coach Tim Boyce will travel an eight-runner contingent comprising of seven newcomers and one letterwinner to the UC Riverside Agricultural Operations Course. The landscape includes mostly flat terrain with a few rolling hills, featuring 100-year old citrus trees.
 
During UH's last outing, the Rainbow Wahine finished second at the Big Wave Invitational finishing behind sixth-ranked Brigham Young. Senior Shannon McClish paced Hawai'i with a 14^th place finish (18:57), while Olivia Hill and Rebecca DeKay finished 20th (20:18) and 21st (20:20). Rounding out the scoring five were freshmen Anna Backus (24th, 20:46) and Sophia Lodigiani (25th, 20:59).
 
Race time for the Rainbow Wahine is slated at 7:30 a.m. PT.  There will be three additional races to follow, including a men's 8k (8:05 a.m.), women's open 5k (8:40 a.m.), and a men's open 8k (9:10 a.m.). The award presentation is set for 9:50 a.m.
