HONOLULU – The University of Hawaiʻi women's track and field team will head to San Diego, Calif. to compete at the UCSD Triton Invitational set for Friday, April 12 – Saturday, April 13.
 
Last time out, UH took part in both the Stanford Invitational and the Mike Fanelli Track Classic last weekend in California.
 
The weekend was highlighted by the relay teams. In the 4x100m relay, UH's team of Martina Latting, Raion Black, Natasha Currence and Calli-Ann Abbott put together a time of 46.79 for sixth place in the competitive field. It is the third-best time in school history and marked the first time UH has broken 47 seconds in the event since 1985.
 
Currence, Latting and Black teamed with Kristen LaCosse for a 4x400m relay time of 3:49.34. Also the third-best time in program history, it is the fastest relay for the 'Bows since a 3:39.10 in 1984.
 
So far this outdoor season, the Rainbow Wahine have four individuals who rank in the top five in the Big West in their respective events. Checking in at third in their events are Black (100m – 11.88), LaCosse (400m hurdles – 1:00.75) and Alexis Brenzil (javelin – 47.44m). Abbott is currently in fifth in the Big West in the 100m hurdles (14.20).
 
Following the UCSD Triton Invitational, Hawaiʻi will make a return trip to California next week to take part in four events: Mt. SAC Relays, Pacific Coast Intercollegiate, Bryan Clay Invitational and Multi, and the Beach Invitational.
