HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i swimming and diving team officially ended its 2018-19 campaign with its end of the year banquet at Ala Moana Beach Park on Sunday evening.
 
Many student-athletes were recognized for their accomplishments in the pool and the classroom as 12 awards in total were handed, with six going to the men's side and six going to the women's team.
 
Men's Awards:
Corey Carroll Most Valuable Swimmer Award- Senior, Metin Aydin
Most Outstanding Diver Award- Senior, Johan Sandell
Mike Sheldt Rookie of the Year Award- Freshman, Talon Lindquist
Peter Chi Most Inspirational Award- Junior, Olli Kokko
Soichi Sakamoto Award- Junior, Kane Follows
Outstanding Scholar Athlete Award- Sophomore, Michael Mabry  
 
Women's Awards:
Jennifer Koprowski Most Valuable Swimmer Award- Junior, Phoebe Hines
Most Outstanding Diver Award- Junior, Jami Stone
Tammy Tye Rookie of the Year Award- Sophomore, Karolina Hajkova
Peter Chi Most Inspirational Award- Sophomore, Anna Kotonen
Soichi Sakamoto Award- Junior, Katrina Sudweeks
Outstanding Scholar- Junior, Katrina Sudweeks
 
The 2018-19 season was one of the more memorable years in recent memory for the program. As a team, both the men's and women's squads won Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championship, the first time in program history both teams won conference titles in the same year. Each team had multiple student-athletes represent UH at the NCAA Championships, while also scoring in the championships.
 
Individually UH had two All-Americans in Hines and Follows, and was recognized by the MPSF for various end of the year accomplishments.
