'Bows Tripped up by CSUN, 10-2

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The University of Hawaiʻi baseball team dropped game two of its three-game set at CSUN by a 10-2 final score on Saturday at Matador Field.

Hawaiʻi (18-21, 7-7 Big West) fell behind the Matadors (18-23, 5-9 Big West) by a 6-0 tally through four innings and was never able to recover.

The CSUN lead grew to 8-0 in the sixth before the Rainbow Warriors got on the board with Tyler Murray's RBI single to score Dallas Duarte in the top of the seventh. Two more runs for CSUN in the bottom of the seventh made it 10-1 in favor of the home side.

The score remained 10-1 until the top of the ninth when Daylen Calicdan knocked his first career home run over the fence in left to make it 10-2.

Calidan paced the UH offense with three hits on the day. The 'Bows, which outhit CSUN 10-9, also picked up multi-hit games from Scotty Scott (2-for-4), and Duarte (2-for-3).

On the mound, Logan Pouelsen took the loss after he went 3.2 innings, yielding five earned runs on six hits before Colin Ashworth took over to go 2.1 innings with two runs on three hits. Cade Halemanu finished out the game with 2.0 innings and two unearned runs on two walks and no hits.

CSUN starting pitcher Isaiah Nunez worked around nine hits to give up one run in 7.1 innings of work to pick up the win.

Game three between the two sides is set for Sunday, April 28, at 1:00 p.m. PT (10:00 a.m. HT).
