Softball Returns To Host UC Riverside

HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i softball team (27-13, 8-4 Big West) returns home to host UC Riverside (23-19, 5-7 Big West) in a three game conference series this weekend at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. The two teams will square off in a single game on Friday, April 26 at 6:00 p.m. followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. The Rainbow Wahine will conduct their last Autograph Session of the season after Friday night's game. Saturday is Power in Pink day at the park as UH will wear special pink jersey's in recognition of breast cancer awareness.

Promotions: Fans will have the opportunity to win Under Armour apparel and accessories from the popular "Ballpark Bingo" throughout the series. Also, t-shirts will be thrown into the stands during the fourth inning at each game. There will be an autograph session after Friday night's game. There will be an autograph session after Friday night's game. Television: Spectrum sports will broadcast the entire three-game series with Scott Robbs and Lori Santi calling all the action.

Series History: UH holds a 25-6 advantage over the Highlanders. Last season UCR won two games in the three game series in Riverside.
 
GAME NOTES:
  • Hawai'i looks to get back on the winning track after getting swept at Cal State Fullerton last weekend. UH fell to 27-13 overall and 8-4 in the Big West. This week the 'Bows will battle UC Riverside (25-19, 5-7 Big West)
  • Last week, juniors Callee Heen and Sissy Pantastico both led UH hitting .500 at the plate. Heen went 3-for-6 with two runs scored. Two of her three hits went for extra bases with a double and a home run. Pantastico was 2-of-4 with a run scored and an RBI. She also drew three walks and had an on-base% of .714.
  • Overall, Heen continues to lead the Big West with 13 home runs and she is ranked in the top three in the conference – No. 2 in batting average (.398), No. 2 slugging percentage (.816), No. 2 in on-base percentage (.523), No. 2 in RBI (40) and No. 2 in walks (25).
  • Senior third baseman Nicole Lopez has started 193 consecutive games at third base. She currently is hitting a career-high .363 batting average. She leads the league with 39 runs scored and is No. 4 in the BWC with a team-high 48 hits. She also leads UH with 10 doubles and is 4-4 in stolen bases.
  • Sixth-year pitcher Brittany Hitchcock leads UH with a 1.95 ERA and a 14-7 overall record with a 6-2 mark in conference. She has recorded 16 complete games in 21 starts and has fired five shutouts in 125.2 innings pitched. She has 21 walks to 85 strikeouts.
