IRVINE, Calif.—University of Hawai'i sophomore Blaz Seric claimed his first career Big West Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week award after stellar play in singles and doubles.

Seric finished a combined 5-0 in singles and doubles despite as the Rainbow Warriors recorded a 1-2 record last week. Seric helped UH to a big 4-3 road win against UC Davis to open conference action. He teamed with Simao Telo Alves to clinch the doubles point at No. 2 with a 7-5 win over the Aggie tandem of Chethan Swanson and Nil Giraldez. In singles against the Aggies, Seric also clinched the overall team win for UH with his 6-7 (4), 6-1, 6-3 win over Giraldez at No. 3 singles.

In UH's matches against UC Irvine and UC Riverside, Seric defeated both of his opponents. He downed UCI's Daniel Gealer, 7-6 (5), 6-0, and UCR's Nabil Abdallah, 7-6 (7), 7-6 (4), coming out on top in three tiebreaker sets to improve to 10-6 in dual matches this season.
 
Seric has won his last seven-straight decisions in singles and five of his last six matches in doubles with partner, Alves.
 
Seric is the second Rainbow Warrior to earn the conference weekly honor this season. Earlier this year, teammate Andre Ilagan was named BWC Athlete of the Week on Feb. 6.
