- This will be the first-ever meeting of the teams.
- UH is coming off a fourth-place finish in the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic, defeating UTEP, before falling to No. 21 Washington and Georgia Tech.
- UH has lost back-to-back games for the first time this season. It is also the first time UH has dropped back-to-back non-conference games at home since the 2016 Diamond Head Classic.
- The 'Bows struggled offensively in the DHC, shooting just 37 percent from the floor, including 19 percent (13-of-67) on three-pointers.
- UH is 8-3 at home this year, while Maine already plays its ninth road game of the young season. The Black Bears are 1-7 on the road so far.
- Following Maine, UH begins Big West play on the road with games at Cal State Fullerton (Jan. 9) and UC Irvine (Jan.11).
- UH lost for the first time in eight instances this year when leading at the half, following its 70-57 loss to Georgia Tech. The Bows held a 32-29 lead at the break.
- UH was either tied or leading at half in three of its five losses this year.
- UH failed to have a player crack double-digit scoring in its loss to Georgia Tech. The last time that happened was more than eight years ago vs. Idaho on Jan. 6, 2011.
- UH has been out-scored 82-38 in the paint in the last two contests.
