HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i softball team will host the Fall Preseason Classic with Hawai'i, Chaminade and Fullerton College all competing in the three-day tournament. Games will begin on Friday, Nov. 8 and conclude on Sunday, Nov. 10.
The Rainbow Wahine returns 14 players from last year's squad which recorded a 33-16 overall record and 14-7 mark in the Big West. Leading the 'Bows into action is senior first baseman/catcher
Callee Heen who earned NFCA All-West Region and all-Big West first team honors last season. As a junior Heen led the league with 15 home runs and 31 walks--which were both career highs. She also led Hawai'i with a .374 batting average, .789 slugging percentage and .509 on-base percentage. Heen also led UH with 14 multiple-RBI games. Joining Heen in leading the way into the 2020 season are Big West honorable mention players senior middle infielder,
Cheeks Ramos and outfielder
Brittnee Rossi. Also getting post-season conference recognition were UH's rookie pitcher Izzy Dino and outfielder
Mikaela Gandia-Mak.
Hawai'i will welcome in a total of 13 newcomers this fall--including three transfers-- junior from Washington, Nawai Kaupe (originally from Maui); Sophomore Sammie Ofoia (who grew up in Pearl City, O'ahu- from Southern Illinois; and Ellie Suh who spent a year at UH Hilo on the Big Island.
