BRIDGEPORT, Pa. - The University of Hawaiʻi water polo team enters the 2019 season tied for sixth in the Collegiate Water Polo Association preseason poll, which was released on Wednesday.

The Rainbow Wahine reached as high as fifth in the national rankings last year before finishing seventh in the final CWPA poll.

Hawaiʻi ranked sixth in the 2017 and 2018 preseason polls and is in the top eight to start the year for the sixth-consecutive season.

The Rainbow Wahine's 2019 schedule features six opponents ranked in the preseason top 10 including No. 1 USC, No. 4 Cal and No. 5 Arizona State at home at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex on campus. Of the 29 teams ranked or receiving votes in the CWPA Top 25, UH will face 14 of them.

UH officially opens the season with the Rainbow Invite, slated for Jan. 19-20 at home. The 'Bows will face No. 22 Marist (12:00 p.m.) and Sonoma State (6:00 p.m.) on Saturday, Jan. 19 before a Sunday matchup with No. 19 San Diego State (10:15 a.m.).
