IRVINE, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i track and field team closed out a weekend of numerous season bests in wrapping the final regular season event of the 2018 campaign on Saturday at Anteater Stadium at the Steve Scott Invitational.
Freshman
Kristen LaCosse highlighted the Rainbow Wahine performances with a fifth-place finish in the 400m hurdles, setting a new career mark at 1:01.77 and moving into sixth on the UH all-time performances list. LaCosse also set a season-best in the 100m hurdles at 14.64, coming in 17th.
Junior
Karen Bulger also finished eighth in the shot put with a season-high toss of 44-00.00 (13.41m), ahead of senior
Mary Kamau in 12th at 41-08.00 (12.70m). Kamau also finished 16th in the discus throw with a throw of 132-09 (40.46m).
Freshman
Charlie Poretti also added a pair of season bests in the 100m (12.60) and 200m (26.01). Sophomore
Natasha Currence led the UH 200m performers with a season-best time of 25.70 seconds, also adding a season-best 59.10 in the 400m for a 16th-place finish.
The Rainbow Wahine wrapped the regular season with the meet and now turn focus to the Big West Championships, the multi-event meet running from May 4-5 and the main meet from May 11-12, with both events contested in Northridge, Calif.
