LOS ANGELES – The University of Hawai'i track and field squad completed the second day of a very busy southern California weekend, taking in three meets in the L.A. area while competing at the Mt. SAC Relays, Bryan Clay Invitational and Beach Invitational.
Leading the UH performers at El Camino College's Murdock Stadium, junior
Amanda Bowers finished fourth in the Mt. SAC pole vault with a height of 11-09.75 (3.60m). Sophomore
Haleigh Sudbeck earned 10th place in the Mt. SAC hammer throw with a mark of 170-05 (51.95m). Freshman
Kristen LaCosse came up just shy of her PR at 1:03.62 to round out the competition group.
At Azusa Pacific's Cougar Athletics Stadium in the Bryan Clay Invitational, junior
Karen Bulger topped the UH javelin throwers with a fourth-place toss of 142-4 (43.39m), ahead of sophomore
Alexis Brenzil (140-7/42.85m) in seventh and junior
Meg Jackson (126-7/38.58m) in 14th.
In the Bryan Clay discus throw, senior
Mary Kamau led UH with a 130-2 (39.67m) mark for 23rd.
Returning to Jack Rose Track for the opening day of the 24th annual Beach Invitational, Junior
Danielle Girard topped the UH performers with an eighth-place finish in the 1500m run with a time of 5:01.34. Senior
Kendall Horan set a new career mark at 2:21.86 in the 800m to finish 11th. Sophomore
Megan Fereira hit her career best for the second straight day, finishing 10th at a height of 11-09.75 (3.60m).
Saturday will be marked by the final days of competition at the Mt. SAC Relays and the Beach Invitational in Torrance and Long Beach, respectively.
