HONOLULU- The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (5-3, 2-1 Big West) completed a 7-0 shutout of fellow Big West Conference member, UC Irvine (6-7, 0-2 Big West) on Saturday afternoon.
The Rainbow Wahine bounced back against conference foes with the win, after falling on the road in their last encounter against UC Davis on Feb. 13. UH, moves to 2-1, as the Anteaters go to 0-2 in the conference dropping their previous matchup against Long Beach State on Mar. 2.

Marina Hruba got the action started on the singles portion of the day with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Vivien Dvali in the No. 3 match. The No. 1 match followed shortly after with another convincing 'Bows victory as Melounova surpassed Stephanie Hazell at 6-4, 6-2.
The match of the afternoon came in the No. 5 slot as sophomore Michelle Pitts fell into an early deficit with the first set going to the Anteaters' Flora Amiri at 6-4. Pitts rallied in the second set for a 6-0 victory, and later a 10-6 win in the third set to take the match.
UH will continue its current seven-match homestead with its next opponent coming on Tuesday against Pacific. The match will mark the fifth straight home encounter since Feb. 23. The stretch will conclude against BWC opponent Cal State Fullerton on Mar. 17, followed by Illinois on Mar. 21.
