Women's Volleyball Hosts Final Homestand vs. UC Irvine, UC Davis

HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team (16-8, 12-2 Big West) hosts its final homestand of the season this weekend. The Rainbow Wahine will take on UC Irvine (16-11, 10-5 BWC) on Thursday, Nov. 15. Hawai'i will then battle UC Davis (16-11, 8-7 BWC) on Senior Night, Friday, Nov. 16. Both matches are slated to start at 7:00 p.m. On Friday night, UH will honor seven Rainbow Wahine seniors—Reyn "Tita" Akiu, Casey Castillo, Angel Gaskin, McKenna Granato, Sarah Liva, Faith Ma'afala and Natasha Burns, who is a fourth year junior graduating this school year.

Hawai'i is coming off a bye week. On UH's last roadtrip, the 'Bows swept CSUN and cameback to defeat Long Beach State before falling in a heart-breaking five set match at Pepperdine.

On the road against LBSU, senior outside hitter McKenna Granato became just the 20th Rainbow Wahine in history to record her 1,000th kill as she recorded her 10th double-double of the season. She also posted her 700th career dig in the match against the 49ers. Currently, she has 1,018 career kills and 722 career digs. This season, she leads UH with 287 kills (3.22 k/s) and 35 service aces.

UH's double-double machine, junior setter/opposite Norene Iosia continues her dual role in UH's hybrid 6-2 offense. Iosia is ranked second in almost every statistical category for the Rainbow Wahine. She has 184 kills, 426 assists, 24 service aces, 263 digs and 47 total blocks.

On defense, middle hitter Natasha Burns leads UH with 79 total blocks while averaging 1.05 blocks per set. She also has put down a career-high 166 kills while hitting .317 for the year. In the back row, senior libero Tita Akiu has anchored the defense with 398 total digs. She is averaging 4.42 digs per set and she has 84 assists and 13 service aces.
