HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team finishes its first week homestand this week as face off against No. 24 Texas Tech in a rematch from this past Sunday. The Rainbow Warriors will battle the Raiders on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 2:30 p.m. at the UH Tennis Complex.
In the first match, Texas Tech held off the 'Bows in the dual match, 5-2. In doubles, UH's
Felix Albert and
Fabian Woehrl were just edged out by 29
th-ranked Jackson Cobb and Alex Sendegeya in a tie-breaker, 7-6 (5). Then in singles, both
Aleksa Lazarevic and
Tristan Martins both broke through with their first wins as Rainbow Warriors. Lazarevic held off Ilgiz Valiev in a three set match at No. 4, 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-4. Martins won at No. 6 in straight sets over Cobb, 7-6 (5), 6-2. Hawai'i's No. 1,
Blaz Seric came close to posting his first win of the season, but fell by a break in the deciding third set, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.
Wednesday's match against Texas Tech will be their last contest for the month of January as the 'Bows' next opponent will be Air Force on Feb. 17-18.
