SEATTLE – Highlighted by a top-tier rookie performance on Saturday, the University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine wrapped up competition at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Indoor Track Championships.

Leading the way at Dempsey Indoor, marking her third personal-best performance of the year, Murray, Ky. freshman
Lily Lowe hit 5-10.75 (1.80m) in the high jump to finish just two inches shy of Lisanne Hagens' (Arizona) gold-medal mark. Finishing in second place, Lowe's mark jumps the rookie into second place on the all-time UH performances list.

In the throws, Burlingame, Calif. senior
Sabrina Mendoza registered a distance of 47-03.00 (14.40m) in the shot put to finish 10th with her second-longest career throw. In the same event, freshman
Michelle Altice came in 14th with a mark of 45-06.25 (13.87m).

"I am very proud of our team's performance," head coach
Carmyn James said, "especially since so many of our team members are just freshmen. With 20 teams on the women's side of the MPSF and 12 of which are PAC-12 teams, this championship was the highest-caliber meet they have ever contested."

Of the 19 Rainbow Wahine appearing at the championships, 10 are competing in their first collegiate season.

UH finished third among Big West teams within the MPSF, finishing 17th overall, ahead of three other BWC schools, setting a great springboard for the outdoor season beginning shortly.

The Rainbow Wahine will open their outdoor campaign on March 11 at home, hosting the Leah Bennett Invitational at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex. The meet is the third and competition in the UH Sunrise Series.
