Rainbow Wahine Basketball Set For Rematch Against Cal Poly On Saturday

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team will be on the hunt for its fourth win in five games when Cal Poly visits the Stan Sheriff Center at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
 
Hawai'i is coming off a 79-62 win over UC Irvine on Thursday, which brought the Rainbow Wahine to 3-3 in the Big West Conference and 7-11 overall. The 'Bows are 6-3 at home this season and have won four straight against the Mustangs, including an 87-79 win at Cal Poly on Jan. 19.
 
Lahni Salanoa broke out with 18 points and five rebounds in Hawai'i's win over UC Irvine, while Sarah Toeaina added 13 points and Leah Salanoa finished with 12 off the bench.
 
Toeaina and Briana Harris combined for 47 points in the first meeting this season against Cal Poly, as Harris tied her career-high with 24 points and Toeaina added 23. Hawai'i shot a season-high 57 percent from the field in that game and held the Mustangs to just 5-of-22 (22.7 percent) from 3-point range.
 
Cal Poly enters the contest with an identical record to Hawai'i, sitting at 7-11 overall and 3-3 in the Big West. The Mustangs are 1-8 on the road this season and have lost three of their last four overall. Twins Dynn and Lynn Leaupepe lead Cal Poly in scoring, as Lynn averages 15.9 points and a team-best 7.8 rebounds per game and Dynn adds 14.4.
