HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors football team went back to work on Cooke Practice Field in shells on Tuesday for the third practice of the week.
It was arguably the best practice of camp, with a strong competitive performance from both the offensive and defensive units. The team looked crisp, while energy and intensity were high for the team, now in its second week of fall camp.
After a minor energy lull in the back half of the first week, the Rainbow Warriors have risen to the challenge from first-year head coach
Nick Rolovich and have brought maximum effort each day since. Onlookers can see the difference in the product on the field, but Rolovich says it goes even deeper than that.
"I like the desire of our guys to get better each day," Rolovich said. They're beginning to do the little things right and are better today than the first day. They're learning to take care of each other on the field. That bond is not visual; people can't see it, but it's there and they're beginning to feel it."
HawaiiAthletics.com was able to tag along with coach Rolovich throughout a recent practice, giving Hawai'i fans a chance to get up close and personal with the Warrriors' head man. Check out the latest episode of H-TV's Wired, with
Nick Rolovich.
The Rainbow Warriors head back to work on Wednesday with another two-a-day practice set. The grind begins in full gear at 6:30 a.m. on Cooke Field, returning in the afternoon for a second practice in shells.
