HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team brought out the brooms on Senior Night with a straight-set win over No. 14 California Baptist, Saturday night in the regular season finale at the Stan Sheriff Center. Set scores were 26-24, 25-21, 25-20.

Following the match, seniors Sinisa Zarkovic, Kolby Kanetake, and Brandon Hiehle were honored during the traditional Senior Night ceremony.

The Rainbow Warriors (16-11, 11-11 MPSF) closed out the regular season with a series sweep of the Lancers (14-16, 6-16), who needed a win to earn a spot into the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament. UH is the No. 7 seed in the tournament and will face second-seeded UCLA next Saturday in Los Angeles.

UH held the Lancers to .000 hitting through the first two sets and finished with 14.5 team blocks, its second highest total of the season. The Warriors were led by opposite Stijn van Tilburg's 11 kills and career-high tying seven blocks.

As for the seniors, who played their final match at the Stan Sheriff Center, Zarkovic finished with nine kills and six blocks; Kanetake tallied two digs, and Hiehle made his first career start and posted a kill, two digs, and a block.

UH trailed for much of the first set before tying it at 18 on a kill by van Tilburg. CBU extended its lead to four before the Warriors closed within one at 23-22 after van Tilburg's sixth kill. UH erased one set point with a Nainoa Frank overpass and another after a Fey solo block. After a CBU hitting error, Jennings Franciskovic stuffed Rocky DeLyon on UH's set point for a 26-24 victory.

The Warriors jumped out to a 9-4 advantage to start Set 2 with a 5-0 run before the Lancers slowly chipped away to take a 17-16 lead. UH quickly responded with four straight and closed out the set with three straight capped by a pair of Frank and van Tilburg double-blocks for a 25-21 win.

UH used a 6-2 run for a 10-7 lead in Set 3. The Warriors extended their lead to 22-13 during a 7-1 run and held on for a 25-20 victory.
