Beach Invitational ResultsLONG BEACH, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine track and field team finished off a busy weekend in the Los Angeles Metro on Saturday, competing in the final day or both the Mt. SAC Relays and the Beach Invitational, with several athletes turning in strong performances down the stretch of the 2016 season.
Closing out competition at the Mt. SAC Relays in Norwalk, Calif., St.-Cesaire, Canada senior
Alex Porlier Langlois made the most of her invitational shot put bid, throwing a season-best mark of 51-8.25 (15.75m) for seventh place. She also tallied a throw of 160-00 (48.76m) in the invitational discus throw to finish sixth overall.
Across the city at the Beach Invitational in Long Beach, Veracruz, Mexico senior Tiziana Ruiz-Dominguez added another mighty vault to her career week in Southern California, matching her school-record height of 13-6.25 (4.12m), winning her flight and tying for the ninth-best mark in the 72-woman pole vault field.
'Ewa Beach, O'ahu sophomore
Sha'tres Ah Nee added to a busy week that started in the California Invitational Heptathlon, earning fifth place in the Beach Invitational high jump with a height of 5-1.00 (1.55m), matching her season best.
Kapolei, O'ahu senior
Charlinda Ioane earned a fifth-place finish in flight seven of the discus at the BI, throwing 154-7 (47.13m) for eighth place overall.
With the completion of Saturday's meets, the Rainbow Wahine wrap up a heavy slate of five meets across the past four days and will next return to action in the Steve Scott Invitational, April 29-30 in Irvine, Calif., preceding the multi-events section of the Big West Championships, May 6-7 in Long Beach, Calif.
