HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team kept it rolling on Saturday night, running its win streak over Cal State Fullerton to nine straight with a 76-59 win over the Titans in Big West Conference action at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The win keeps the 'Bows (20-3, 9-1 BWC) atop the league standings after seizing that spot with Thursday's win over UC Irvine.

Sai Tummala showcased his best overall game of the season, recording his first double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Aaron Valdes had a double-double of his own (15 pts, 10 reb) as five UH players had double figures in points for just the second time this season.

Tre' Coggins had a game-high 18 points for Cal State Fullerton (9-15, 2-9 BWC) before fouling out with 4:55 remaining.

UH set the tone early, playing suffocating defense to go up by 17 points. Quincy Smith hit a three pointer to give UH a 10-2 lead, then Valdes scored back-to-back buckets on alley-oops from Roderick Bobbitt and Cal State Fullerton open the game shooting just 1-13 from the field. Bobbitt had a solid performance on the night with 12 points, four assists and four steals.

Fullerton would get back into the game though. Kyle Allman completed a three-point play to cut the lead to six, then a three pointer and a layup from Malcolm Brooks made it a 29-27 ball game. The 'Bows would finish the half on an 11-4 run and lead by nine points at the break.

UH would extend the lead to 11 points early in the second half after Bobbitt got a floater to go then Smith scored on a hesitation drive to the basket. Lionheart Leslie's and-one layup cut the lead to seven points but back-to-back threes from Tummala and Bobbitt lifted the lead back up to 13 points with 12 minutes to play.

Both teams would struggle late in the game but defense and offensive rebounding helped the 'Bows slowly increase the lead and close out the game.

The Rainbow Warriors now head back out on the road where they are undefeated in conference play. UH plays at CSUN on Thursday, Feb. 18 before traveling to UC Irvine for another showdown with the Anteaters this Saturday.
