VIDEO: UH-UCLA Series PreviewHONOLULU — It's rivalry week for the University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team as they host nemesis No. 1 UCLA, Friday, Feb. 5 and Saturday, Feb. 6 in a two-match Mountain Pacific Sports Federation series at the Stan Sheriff Center. Both matches begin at 7:00 p.m.
The Rainbow Warriors (8-1, 3-1 MPSF) conclude their three-week, six-match homestand and put their 16-match home win streak on the line this weekend. UH is coming off a two-match sweep of UC San Diego in which the Warriors won both matches in straight sets. Outside hitter Sinisa "Siki" Zarkovic led the way, averaging 5.50 kills per set, hitting .547 in the series.
UH boasts a four-match win streak over the Bruins since 2014, its second-longest streak in the series and one shy of the record five straight wins from 2002-04. The Warriors still trail the all-time series 61-26, however, head coach
Charlie Wade is 7-9 against the Bruins since 2010. Wade needs one win for 100 in his career. In six-plus seasons at Hawai'i, Wade has a career record of 99-80.
The Bruins (10-0, 6-0) remained perfect in 2016 after posting three wins last week including a five-set, come-from-behind victory over No. 2 Long Beach State. UCLA is off to its best start since 1998.
