SAN FRANCISCO – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow coed team placed fourth and the Rainbow Wahine placed 18th in the 28th Annual Stoney Burke Intersectional held on Oct. 15-16 in Clipper Cove off of Treasure Island in the San Francisco Bay.
A total of 24 teams representing 18 schools competed in the regatta. Due to lack of wind, a total of just 14 races—seven each in the A and B divisions—were completed over the weekend. UCSB won the regatta, edging out Santa Barbara City College by just three points. The UH coed team placed fourth with 90 points, just ahead of fifth-place USC with 93.
Chuck Eaton and
Annika Garrett sailed in Division A for the Rainbows while
Michael Pacholski and
Cole Brauer were impressive with a second-place finish in Division B.
The Rainbow Wahine scored a total of 227 points between Division A and B.
Caitlin Schadt and
Gianna Bailey sailed in the A Division, while
Annie Johnson and Jazlyner Rojas competed in the B Division.
Next up, the University of Hawai'i will compete in the PCCSC Men's and Women's Singlehanded Championships. October 21-23, in Los Angeles.
