VIDEO: Men's Tennis Senior Day 

HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team (5-5, 0-1 Big West) battled hard, but came up just short, falling to #71 UC Davis, 4-3 on Thursday afternoon. It was UH's Big West Conference opener as well as Senior Day at the UH Tennis Complex for three Rainbow Warriors—Carter Lam, Chas Okamoto, and Nils Schuhmann.
 
The 'Bows got off to a great start, winning the first two doubles matches with the identical score of 6-2 to capture the doubles point right off the bat. UH's No. 1 duo of Lam and Marcel Chan knocked off UCD's Alec Adamson and Adam Levie while Schuhmann and Joakim Pinola defeated the Aggies' Bryce McKelvie and Brett Bacharach.
 
In singles, the Rainbow Warriors fought hard, taking five of six matches to three sets. But the Aggies were able to win the first four to win the match. No. 2 Okamoto defeated UCD's James Wade, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 to win his final home match of his career. Schuhmann won a gutsy three-set match which ended in a super tiebreaker since the match had already been decided. Alec Adamson won the first set, 7-5, but Schuhmann evened the match as he bounced back for a 6-4 win in the second set. In the super tie-breaker, Adamson had an early 4-2 lead, but Schuhmann came back to win eight of the next 12 points to capture the match.
 
Hawai'i plays its last four matches, which are all conference tilts, on the road, beginning at Cal Poly on March 30 and UC Santa Barbara on April 1.
