LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- The University of Hawai`i men's tennis team fell to UNLV, 4-1, on Tuesday afternoon at the Fertitta Tennis Complex in Las Vegas, Nev.

The `Bows would strike first by winning the doubles point. UH's Nils Schuhmann and Joakim Pinola beat the Rebel's Jakob Amilon and Ruben Alberts, 6-2 on the No. 2 court. But UNLV would even things as the No. 1 duo of Adam Gage-Brown and Ace Matias beat the UH'sChas Okamoto and Marcel Chan, 6-2 to tie the score at 1-1. But the 'Bows would earn the doubles point when the No. 3Fabian Woehrl and Kula Companion defeated UNLV's Ozzy Abraham and Alexandr Cozbinov in a nail-biting tiebreak, 7-6 (6).

In singles play, UNLV would win the first four matches to clinch the match. In the No. 6 singles, sophomore Kula Companion would make his debut in the singles lineup playing against UNLV's Ruben Alberts, but fell in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0. The Rebel's Alexandr Cozbinov cruised past UH's Fabian Woehrl, 6-1, 6-0, while UNLV's Jakob Amilon defeated Marcel Chan in the No. 3 position, 6-1, 6-3. It was up to the `Bows' Okamoto to keep UH's match hopes alive against Denys Pume, but Okamoto would eventually fall in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.

Hawai`i will next play their final home match against UC Davis on March 26. It will be Senior Day for three seniors, Carter Lam, Chas Okamoto, and Nils Schuhmann.
