Box Score (html)HONOLULU—The University of Hawai`i softball team opened the 2015 season with a 3-1 win over St. Mary's on the first night of the Oceanic Time Warner Cable Paradise Classic on Thursday night.
Lindsey Willmon launched a three-run home run and that was all that
Brittany Hitchcock would need to earn her first collegiate win at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
Hitchcock, a redshirt freshman, fired a complete game, scattering four hits and allowing one run with no walks and four strike outs.
St. Mary's Lujane Mussadi took the loss, giving up all three runs on five hits with a strike out in four innings pitched. Katie Moss tossed the final two scoreless innings.
The 'Bows broke a scoreless game in the bottom of the fourth inning. Leisha Li`ili`i started things with a single to rightfield.
Heather Morales then drilled a single to left that ricocheted off the leftfielder to allow both runners to hustle into scoring position.
Lindsey Willmon then launched her first home run of the season over the leftfield fence. It was Willmon's 12th career home run.
St. Mary's Hailey Sparacino looped a double to leftfield that drove in Katelyn Mamizuka who had doubled earlier in the inning for the Gaels' first run.

Leisha Li'ili'i led UH going 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and a run scored.
In the first game of the day, No. 4 Oklahoma defeated No. 25 DePaul, 9-2.
The Paradise Classic continues on Friday with four games.
