Box Score (html)HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior baseball team rallied from five runs down in the ninth inning but came up 90 feet short in a 6-5 loss to Hofstra on Friday night at Les Murakami Stadium.

The 'Bows trailed 6-1 in the last of the ninth but after
Stephen Ventimilia's two-run double, UH had cut the lead to 6-4.
Chayce Ka'aua, hitting in a pinch hit role, then grounded out but scored a run and moved Ventimilia to third.
Kaeo Aliviado, who had homered in the sixth inning, had a chance to bring Ventimilia (2 H, 2 RBI) home but struck out to end the game.

Quintin Torres-Costa (0-1) suffered the loss, giving up five earned runs on nine hits with seven strikeouts. Chris Bonk (1-1) gave up just one run in six complete innings for the win.

Aliviado led the 'Bows (2-5) with two hits including a double and his sixth-inning solo homerun.

A handful of Pride (2-4) batters got in on the action. Steven Foster batted 4-4 with one run and one RBI and Mat Annuziata had two hits including a two-run triple in the fifth inning.

Hofstra got on the board first with a run in the third inning. Foster's RBI single scored Jake Fallon from second to put the Pride up early.

The Pride tacked on another run in the fourth before breaking the game open with a four-run fifth inning. Annuziata ripped a Torres-Costa pitch down the right field line for a two-run triple and ended Torres-Costa's night.

The 'Bows and Pride conclude their series with a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1:05 p.m.
