Game Notes

HONOLULU--The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team (7-5, 0-0 Big West) concludes its non-conference season and plays their first game of 2015 against UNC Greensboro (5-9, 0-0 Southern) on Friday, Jan. 2 at 5:00 p.m. The Rainbow Wahine are coming off a 76-68 win over Hawai'i Pacific on Dec. 31. It is the first meeting between Hawai'i and UNCG.

A trio of seniors continue to lead Hawai'i with Shawna-Lei Kuehu leading the charge. Kuehu is coming off a 26 point/nine rebound performance against HPU on Wednesday. She is averaging team highs of 13.3 points and 7.3 rebounds--both team highs. She also leads UH with 17 blocked shots and 34 assists. Ashleigh Karaitiana and Morgan Mason are both averaging 11.0 points per game. Karaitiana leads UH with 20 steals; 15-made 3-pointrs; and 33.7 minutes per game. Mason is second on the team with 33 assists but did not play in UH's most recent game against Hawai'i Pacific. 

UNC Greensboro is coming off two losses to LSU (82-61) and Florida A&M (70-64) at the Miami Holiday Tournament in Florida. This is the final non-conference game for UNCG as well before they enter the Southern Conference season. The Spartans are also led by four players--Lucy Mason, Shanese Harris, Janae Savage and Jessica Collins account for almost 70% of UNCG's scoring with a combined 631 points out of the team's 925 points scored thus far. Mason leads UNCG with 13.7 points a game; 71 field goals and 50 assists. Savage is scoring 12.8 points with team-highs of 6.9 rebounds per game and 37 steals. Harris is averaging 10.4 points and Collins leasd UNCG with 18 made 3-pointers  while scoring 8.1 points per game.
