INCHEON, South Korea – University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine swimmer
Jasmine Alkhaldi's run at the 2014 Asian Games concluded this week with a quartet of top 10 finishes.
Alkhaldi, who was the lone female swimmer representing the Philippines, placed ninth in the 100-meter freestyle, 100 butterfly and 200 free and 10
th in the 50 free on Thursday in her final event. Alkhaldi narrowly missed advancing to the finals in each of the events as only the top eight finishers moved on.
The Rainbow Wahine senior's time in the 200 free of 2:02.84 was a personal best and, along with her finish in the 100 free, qualified her for next year's FINA World Championships in Russia.
Alkhaldi will now rejoin her UH teammates as the season official opens at San Diego State on Oct. 24. The 'Bows host their annual alumnae match on Oct. 11 at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
