Men’s Tennis To Finish Regular Season On The Road

Jonathan Brooklyn recently won his third Big West Athlete of the Week award
HONOLULU - The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior tennis team (5-10, 2-0 Big West) will play its final three regular season matches on the road, going up against UC Riverside (Apr. 14), San Diego State (Apr. 16), and UC Irvine (Apr. 18).
 
Jonathan Brooklyn has been the most consistent player for UH all season, leading the team in wins with a 7-5 singles record, and 6-7 doubles record. He is currently on a three-match win streak in doubles with partner Carter Lam. In the 'Bows most recent match against UC Davis Brooklyn won both his singles and doubles matches to help UH squeeze out a tight 4-3 win. For his efforts, Brooklyn won his third Big West Men's Tennis Athlete of The Week award of the season.
 
UC Riverside (2-19, 0-3 Big West) is coming off a 7-0 loss against UC Santa Barbara. Cooper Bridge leads the team in singles wins with a 6-9 record, while Julian Ruffin and Marcus Vizcarra are both tied for team high in doubles with four wins apiece. UH beat UC Riverside at home last season, 6-1.
 
San Diego State (9-9, 3-0 Mountain West) most recently won against UC Santa Barbara, 4-3. Freddy Gelbrich paces the team in singles with eight wins. Doubles partners Gelbrich and Hendrik Jebens lead the team in doubles with nine victories. The Aztecs defeated the 'Bows, 5-2, this past fall.
 
UC Irvine (9-13, 0-3 Big West) lost to Fresno State in their last match, 4-3. Tyler Pham leads the team in singles with a 10-11 record.  Ryan Cheung paces the team in doubles with a 9-7 doubles record.  UH defeated UC Irvine 5-2 last season in Honolulu.
