Photo GallerySAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team placed eighth at the Big West Conference Women's Golf Championship which concluded with the third and final round Tuesday at the San Luis Obispo Country Club.
The Rainbow Wahine shot a final round 317 for a 953 total (321-315-317). No. 37 UC Davis captured the team championship with an 895 total while Cal State Northridge was runner-up at 911. Long Beach State (922) finished third followed by UC Irvine (923), Cal Poly (931), UC Riverside (933), Cal State Fullerton (942), and UH.
CSUN's Clariss Guce and CSUF's Martina Edberg each finished the 54 holes in 2-under 217 with Edberg capturing medalist honors by winning the playoff on the first hole.
Pacing the Rainbow Wahine for the ninth time this season was freshman
Izzy Leung who completed the three rounds with a total score of 237 (76-78-83). The Shatin, Hong Kong native finished her rookie season by leading the team in all nine events this season. Leung tied for 22
nd overall.
Two strokes behind Leung was freshman
Kelli-Anne Katsuda, who shot a final round 79 for a 239 total (81-79-79) and a tie for 26
th. Freshman
Brianna Becker and sophomore
Nichole Cruz each shot 78, the low round of the day for UH. Becker tied for 28
th at 240 (82-80-78) while Cruz tied for 33
rd at 245 (82-85-78).
Also competing for the Rainbow Wahine was freshman
Raquel Ek, who placed 31
st with a 243 total (83-78-82).
The tournament concluded the 2013-14 season for the Rainbow Wahine.
