Photo GallerySAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team is currently in eighth place following the first round of the Big West Conference Championship, Sunday at the San Luis Obispo Country Club.
The Rainbow Wahine fired a first round 321 while freshman
Izzy Leung was the long UH golfer to break 80 with a 3-over 76. The Hong Kong native is tied for 14
th in the individual leaderboard.
No. 37 UC Davis is the first round leader after shooting 2-over 294. Long Beach State is second at 304 followed by UC Irvine (305), CSU Northridge (307), CSU Fullerton (308), Cal Poly (313), UC Riverside (316), and UH.
Also competing for the Rainbow Wahine are freshman
Kelli-Anne Katsuda (81), sophomore
Nichole Cruz (82), freshman
Brianna Becker (82), and freshman
Raquel Ek (83).
UC Davis' Bev Vatananugulkit was the lone golfer to shoot under par at 1-under 72. She holds a one stroke lead over a group of three golfers including CSUF's Tisha Alyn Abrea and Martina Edberg and LBSU's Chaewon Park.
The tournament continues on Monday with the second round.
