Men’s Basketball Wraps Up Regular-Season This Week

Game Notes

The University of Hawai`i men's basketball team hits the home stretch with its final two regular-season games of the year. The Rainbow Warriors play at UC Santa Barbara in a nationally-televised game on Thursday, March 6 (6:00 p.m. PT) before returning home to host Cal State Fullerton on Saturday, March 8 (7:00 p.m. HT)  for "Senior Night."

With just a pair of contests remaining, UH is jockeying for position for next week's Big West Tournament, March 13-15, in Anaheim. UH (19-9, 8-6 Big West) currently sits in fourth-place in the league standings, two games behind second-place UCSB (19-8, 10-4) and one game behind third-place Long Beach State (13-15, 9-5). The Rainbow Warriors are coming off a heartbreaking 63-61 loss at Long Beach State on Feb. 27, falling on three-pointer with eight seconds remaining. That loss snapped UH's record four-game conference road win streak.

UH now is back on the road again to face a UC Santa Barbara that is still in contention for a league title. The Gauchos defeated the Rainbow Warriors, 75-64, in Honolulu on Feb. 6 and feature conference player of the year front-runner Alan Williams (21.6 ppg, 11.6 rpg).

The 'Bows will then return to Honolulu for its regular-season home finale against Cal State Fullerton, a squad they defeated, 83-80, last month in California. The contest will mark the final home appearances for seniors Davis Rozitis, Brandon Spearman and Christian Standhardinger. It will also be a "Whiteout" night as all fans are encouraged to wear white apparel.
