KAPALUA, Maui – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team sits in a tie for eighth place following the first round of the 3
rd Annual Anuenue Spring Break Classic Monday at Kapalua's The Bay Course.
The Rainbow Wahine shot a 307 and is currently tied with Oregon State in the 15-team field. No. 10 Washington and No. 15 Pepperdine share the team lead at 290, six strokes better than San Jose State (296). No. 36 UC Davis is fourth (298) followed by No. 49 Colorado (301).
Individually, defending champion Grace Na of Pepperdine along with UC Davis' Betty Chen and Washington's Ying Luo hold the first round lead at 2-under 70. One stroke back is Oregon State's Seshia Lei Telles and San Jose State's Megan Osland, who each shot 71.
Leading the way for the Hawai'i is freshmen
Izzy Leung, who fired a 3-over 75 and is tied for 21
st. The Hong Kong native bogeyed her first three holes of the day before finishing even-par over her final 15 holes, which included birdies at Nos. 6 and 15.

Brianna Becker each shot 77 and are tied for 35
th. Freshman
Kelli-Anne Katsuda is one stroke back at 78 and tied for 45
th while sophomore
Nichole Cruz shot 84.
Three Rainbow Wahine are competing as individuals, including Maui native
Liana Otake, who shot 77, along with freshman
Daezsa Tomas (78) and senior
Charlee Kapiioho-Sagum (81).
One of the highlights of the day was a hole in one by Washington's Kelli Bowers at the 160-yard No. 12 hole.
The tournament continues on Tuesday with the second round and wraps up on Wednesday with the third and final round.
