Men’s Tennis To Host No. 26 Michigan

Jonathan Brooklyn leads the team in singles victories
HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team (1-3, 0-0 Big West) will play against No. 26 Michigan (6-4, 1-0 Big 10) on Thursday March 6, at the UH Tennis Complex. First serve is set at 2:00 p.m.

The Rainbow Warriors last played on February 5 against Pacific and fell 5-2. Their most recent match against UC Santa Barbara was postponed due to inclement weather. Jonathan Brooklyn and Nils Schuhmann each have two singles victories to lead the team. Brooklyn's most recent win came against Pacific's Sem Verbeek in an exciting match. After dropping  4-6 in the first set Brooklyn came back in the second 6-4, and edged out Verbeek 7-6 (10-6) in the deciding set. Nils Schuhmann has won his two last singles matches, his first coming against then California's No. 85 Andre Gorranson, and most recently against Pacific's Denis Stolyarov.

The Wolverines come into Honolulu with a 6-4 record. They recently upset then No. 18 Vanderbilt 5-2 and beat Michigan State 4-3 in their last match. Michigan features five ranked players in match play. Alex Petrone is ranked 113th in the country for singles. In doubles the duo of Barrett Franks and Alex Bussi are 17th in the nation, while the pair of Kevin Wong and Shaun Bernstein are 58th. Buzzi has team-high seven singles victories. The No. 3 pair of Wong and Bernstein leads the team in doubles with eight wins.

The teams last met in 2012 in Honolulu. The Wolverines beat the 'Bows 4-0.
