KANEOHE, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team is currently in ninth place following the first two rounds of the 29
th Donnis Thompson Invitational, Tuesday at the Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course on Marines Corps Base Hawai'i.
The Rainbow Wahine shot rounds of 300 and 309 for a 609 total. No. 35 Mississippi State is the first day leader at 584, nine strokes ahead of No. 19 North Carolina State (593).
Individually, UTEP's Camino Sardinero has a three-stoke lead over Kennesaw State's Ines Lescudier entering Wednesday's final round of competition. Sardinero fired rounds of 71 and 70 and is 3-under 141 for the tournament. SMU's Jenny Haglund and TCU's Sanna Nuutinen each shot the low round of the day at 4-under 68 during the second round.
For the Rainbow Wahine, sophomore
Nichole Cruz is tied for 16
th overall after shooting identical rounds of 75 for a 6-over 150 total. Freshman
Brianna Becker is two strokes back at 152 after rounds of 75 and 77 and is tied for 26
th.
Also competing for UH are freshmen Kelli-Ann Katsuda (74-79=153/t31st),
Izzy Leung (76-78=154/t39th), and
Raquel Ek (76-79=155/t45th).
Competing as indivuals are freshman
Daezsa Tomas (76-77=153/t31st), senior
Charlee Kapiioho-Sagum (79-78=157/t56th), and senior
Liana Otake (81-WD).
Wednesday's final round begins with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.
