SANTA BARBARA, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team looks to rebound after a pair of tough losses as they continue their 11-day road trip. The Rainbow Wahine will play two games this week, starting this Thursday, Feb. 6 at UC Santa Barbara (6-14, 1-6 Big West) at 7:00 p.m. and finishing at league-leader Cal Poly (13-8, 7-1 BWC) on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 2:00 p.m.
After winning four straight conference games, the 'Bows (10-9, 4-3 Big West) have dropped their last two in heartbreaking fashion by a combined five points at Long Beach State and in overtime at Cal State Northridge. Hawai'i is now in a three-way tie for third place at 4-3. Most recently against the Matadors, the 'Bows overcame a 16-point deficit to tie the game with 11-seconds left on
Ashleigh Karaitiana's sixth 3-pointer of the game to force overtime. UH then jumped out to a five point lead, but it was not enough as CSUN battled back to escape with the win, 75-72. Karaitiana played all 45 minutes and poured in a career-high 28 points and tied the school record with 6 made treys while
Kamilah Jackson continued her steady play, scoring 23 points with 13 rebounds for her 11th double-double of the season.
UCSB similarly is looking to snap a three-game losing streak. Last year they lost a pair of road games at UC Irvine and UC Davis. The Gauchos have three players averaging over 10 points a game, led by Nicole Nesbit's 15.8 per game. She is also leads UCSB with 72 assists and 25 steals. Melissa Zoring is second on the squad averaging 13.0 points and 4.9 rebounds per game while Destini Mason 12.8 points and a team-high 6.0 rebounds.

Series information: Hawai'i leads the series history against UCSB, 20-13. UH and UCSB split last year's games, both losing on their home courts. The Gauchos won 51-50 in Honolulu on Jan. 26, 2013 while the 'Bows defeated UCSB in the Thunderdome, 54-51 on Feb. 21. Hawai'i is 7-7 when playing at UC Santa Barbara.

Laura Beeman is in her second season with the Rainbow Wahine. She has a 27-22 record at UH. At Mt. San Antonio, she recorded a 390-110 record in the junior college ranks. UCSB head coach Carlene Mitchell is in her third season with a 39-47 career and school record.
