HONOLULU – Looking to grab its first win, the University of Hawai'i Rainbow baseball team suffered its biggest loss of the season in a 10-2 defeat by No. 6 Oregon on Monday afternoon at Les Murakami Stadium.

Scott Kuzminsky (0-1) earned his first career start and finished with a final line of seven runs on eight hits in seven innings of work. He was lifted in the eighth inning after failing to record an out in his first three hitters. Duck starter Jeff Gold (1-0) allowed one run in six complete innings for the win.

Kaeo Aliviado led the 'Bows (0-4) with a pair of hits and Jordan Richartz added an RBI single that put UH on the board in the fifth inning. Steven Ventimilia had a hit and a run scored.

Scott Heineman and Tyler Baumgartner both had three hits and three RBI for Oregon (4-0) with Baumgartner adding one RBI in OU's big six-run eighth inning to put the game away. The 'Bows shored up their defense but did put two errors on the board, both from UH pitchers.

The Ducks scored a pair of runs in the first and third innings to take a 4-0 lead. The UH bats would wake up in the third inning as Stephen Ventimilia and Marcus Doi led off the inning with base hits. That would be the end of any further threat in the inning as Gold retired the next three hitters.

UH scored a late run to complete the scoring off a sacrifice fly by Quintin Torres-Costa who was pinch hitting for Ventimilia.

The 'Bows suffer their second straight sweep to the Ducks and will next take the field this week for four games at Les Murakami Stadium against the University of Albany. First pitch of the series opener is set for Thursday, Feb. 20 at 6:35 p.m.
