Women's Basketball Returns Home to Host UC Riverside

Game Notes

HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team (11-10, 5-4 Big West) return home after a four-game, 11-day roadtrip to host a pair of Big West Conference games against UC Riverside (4-18, 0-9 Big West) on Thurs., Feb. 13 at 7:00 p.m. and Cal State Fullerton (8-13, 4-4 Big West) on Sat., Feb. 15 at 5:00 p.m.
 
A little over halfway into the conference season, Hawai'i currently is in a four-way tie for third place in conference at 5-4 with Long Beach State, UC Irvine, and UC Davis. The 'Bows are looking to bounce back after going 1-3 on this past roadtrip, with all three losses coming by a combined seven points. Hawai'i is looking to finish second half of the BWC season strong, starting this week against the Highlanders and the Titans.

Hawai'i continues to be led by senior forward, Kamilah Jackson, who is averaging 15.6 points and 9.5 rebounds overall. Jackson thus far has recorded a team-high 11 double-doubles and has scored in double figures in all but three games this season. Junior wing Ashleigh Karaitiana is second on the team averaging 10.8 points and 4.9 rebounds a game. Karaitiana leads the 'Bows with 27 3-pointers this season--16 more than her closest teammate.Destiny King continues to have a solid season, leading UH with 53 assists  and she is second with 6.2 rebounds while Sydney Haydel leads the 'Bows with 23 steals. 
 
UH's won their first game against the Highlanders on the road earlier this season on Jan. 18, 74-61. In the win, four Rainbow Wahine scored in double figures, led by Shawna-Lei Kuehu who scored a career-high 22 points and Jackson with one her 11 double-doubles of the season with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Kuehu is averaging 10.4 points a game and 4.2 rebounds with a team-high 21 blocked shots. She has bumped up her production in conference, scoring in double-digits in six of UH's last eight games and has led UH in scoring the past two games.

UHAlumni Association paid members and military members receive 50% adult tickets (maximum of eight) when presenting UHAA or military ID at the Stan Sheriff Center box office. Tickets are in special sections and supplies are limited. Other restrictions may apply. First Hawaiian Bank is the sponsor of Saturday's contest and will award $75 in Zippy's gift cards at halftime. Military members receive 50% adult tickets (maximum of eight) when presenting a military ID at the Stan Sheriff Center box office. Tickets are in special sections and supplies are limited. UH Kids' Club members are invited onto the court for the pre-game ceremonies.
Head Coaches: Hawai'i head coach Laura Beeman is in her second season with the Rainbow Wahine. She has a 28-24 record at UH. At Mt. San Antonio, she recorded a 390-110 record in the junior college ranks. UC Riverside head coach John Magaritis has a 131-138 record in his ninth season at UC Riverside. Overall in his 15th season, Margaritis has a 241-218 career record.
Series Information: Hawai'i has a 4-0 advantage over UC Riverside. Earlier this season, Hawai'i won on the road at UC Riverside, 74-61 on Jan. 18, 2014. Last season, UH swept the home and home series, winning on the road 65-50 (Jan. 5, 2013) and at home, 67-57 (March 7, 2013).
