Negus Webster-Chan added 15 points and the University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior basketball team beat Cal State Bakersfield 72-65 on day 2 of the Outrigger Resorts Rainbow Classic, Saturday at the Stan Sheriff Center.

With the win, the 'Bows improve to 2-0 and now face High Point University on Monday night for the classic title. UH and HPU will tip off at 11:59 p.m., a game that will be broadcast live on ESPN2 as part of ESPN's College Hoops Tip-off marathon.

The 'Bows had their hands full with Aly Ahmed who owned the paint and scored a game-high 18 points.
Stefan Jovanovic was tasked with defending Ahmed and countered with 10 points and four boards.

Aaron Valdes was hampered by foul trouble for most of the game and finished with six points and six boards.

Garrett Nevels (12 pts, 2 stl) nailed a three-pointer to start the game, but Bakersfield (0-2) ran off eight straight points to take an 8-3 lead less than three minutes into the game. Webster-Chan's bucket cut the lead to two points, but the Runners regained the momentum and extended to a 10-point lead. Back-to-back threes from Nevels and Webster-Chan cut the lead to one point but Bakersfield regrouped and took a 34-28 lead into halftime.

Jovanovic started the second half to combat Ahmed in the middle and responded with a pair of early buckets. Bakersfield continued to lead but all that changed when the 'Bows reeled off 15 straight points on the heels of swarming defense that led to points off turnovers. Webster-Chan and
Isaac Fleming (4 pts, 5 reb) both hit from beyond the arc and UH took a 44-43 lead with 13:19 to play.
