SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The 11
th-ranked University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team saw its three-match win streak come to an end with a four-set loss to No. 9 UC Santa Barbara in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match at Rob Gym. Set scores were 25-19, 21-25, 25-22, 25-23.

Brook Sedore finished with a match-high 19 kills, hitting 33 percent. Sophomore outside hitter
Sinisa Zarkovic added 12 kills and three blocks. As a team, the Rainbow Warriors (5-3, 3-2 MPSF) hit .192 but were ultimately undone at the service line, where they committed 13 errors with no errors. In contrast, the Gauchos (4-2, 3-2) tallied seven aces, including two each by Evan Licht and Jake Staahl.
Austin Kingi led UCSB with 13 kills and 10 digs.
After UCSB took the first set 25-19, the Rainbow Warriors rallied in Set 2 and broke open the set with an 8-0 run to take a 19-13 lead. The Gauchos committed five straight errors to start the run.
Hawai'i got off to a fast start in Set 3, taking a 10-6 lead before allowing UCSB to score five straight, including two aces by Staahl. With the score tied at 16, the Gauchos bunched together three more and later scored three of four to put the game out of reach.
UH had a good start to Set 4, scoring six straight with Zarkovic at the service line for an 11-6 lead. But the Gauchos used a 10-2 run, which included seven Hawai'i hitting errors, for a 17-14 lead. The Warriors pulled to within one at 23-22 after three-point spurt but kills by Matt Hanley and Kingi sealed the UCSB victory.
The teams play again on Friday at 7:00 p.m. PT (5:00 p.m. HT) at Rob Gym.
