Final Results
KUNA, Idaho – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine golf team finished sixth in its season opener at the Bronco Fall Classic, Tuesday, at the Falcon Crest Golf Course.
Leading the team was freshman
Izzy Leung, from Shatin, Hong Kong, who completed the tournament at 2-over 218 (75-72-71), just three strokes behind first place. Leung started her final round with pars through the first nine holes before posting birdies on holes No. 10 and 11. The freshman tallied six birdies during the three rounds of her first collegiate tournament.
Santa Clara captured the team title at 875 ahead of host Boise State (882) and Portland State (887). Santa Clara's Kaci McCartan held on to win the individual title at 1-under 215 (71-69-75). Closely trailing were Boise State's Jamie Donizio and Genevieve Ling, Santa Clara's Annie Freman, and Portland State's A Ram Choi, all of whom tied for second at 1-over 217.
The Rainbow Wahine completed the tournament with a final score of 911(310-304-297) including their best round of 297 on Tuesday.
Freshman
Raquel Ek, of San Diego, Calif., finished 16
th at 9-over 225 (76-77-72). Also competing for the Rainbow Wahine were freshman
Kelli-Anne Katsuda (79-77-78=234/T30th), sophomore
Nichole Cruz (80-78-76=234/T30th), and freshman
Daezsa Tomas (80-79-80=239/T39th).
The Rainbow Wahine are scheduled to compete next in the Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert, Calif., Oct. 12-13.
