Rainbow Sailors Place 11th at Team Race Nationals

Day Two Full Results

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The University of Hawai'i coed sailing team concluded its season with an 11th place finish in ICSA/APS Team Race National Championship Sunday at the Magnuson Hotel Marina Cove on Tampa Bay. The Rainbows went 2-11 in head-to-head round-robin action against 14 other schools during two days of competition.

After going 2-8 on the first day of racing, the Rainbows dropped its remaining three races on Sunday to Yale, Rogers Williams and Hobarts & William Smith to complete a full round robin. Yale was one of eight teams to advance to the next round of action as the field will be whittled down to a “Final Four” on Monday to determine an eventual champion.

The APS Team Race Championship brings together 14 of the country's best team racing teams for a three-day championship.  Each team has three boats and teams face off against each other one at a time, so each race is either a win or a loss.

Sailing for the Rainbows were Madeline Kennedy, Lindsay Stewart, Mitchell Icard, Ana-Melissa Kea, Adam Pokras, Kellie Yamada and Giacomo Paoletti.
