HONOLULU – Conner George scored three runs with his second triple of the season and the University of Hawai'i Rainbow baseball team beat Wichita State, 6-1, on Wednesday night at Les Murakami Stadium. It was the second straight win for the 'Bows who improve to 3-15 on the season.

George (1-4, 1 R, 3 RBI) broke a 1-1 tie in the fourth inning when his triple to right field scored all three runners and gave UH its first lead of the game. Starter Tobin Mateychick walked Kaeo Aliviado to load the bases, then Albert Minnis came on in relief and give up George's big hit.

Meanwhile, Connor Little kept the Shocker lineup in check to earn his first win of the season. After surrendering a first-inning run, he tossed seven scoreless innings before Lawrence Chew came on to pitch the ninth inning. Little (1-3) allowed the one run while scattering seven hits and recording four strikeouts.

Andre Real batted 2-4 with one run, Aliviado tripled and scored, and Trevor Podratz doubled and posted an RBI.

WSU threw four pitchers on the evening with Mateychick (2-2) suffering the loss. He allowed four runs on three hits in just three and one-third innings of work. Tyler Baker had a game-high three hits (3-4) to lead Wichita State with Casey Gillaspie adding one run and one hit.

WSU opened the scoring with a run in the first inning. Little struck out the first two Shocker hitters of the game, but WSU scored on the heels of Gillaspie's double and an RBI-hit by Baker.

The 'Bows tied the game just one-half inning later. Stephen Ventimilia (1-2, 1 R) singled then stole second, and advanced to third on a Mateychick wild pitch. Adam Hurley (0-3) grounded into a double play on the next at bat, but Ventimilia was able to score on the play to tie the game.

UH and Wichita State continue their series Thursday. First pitch at Les Murakami Stadium is set for 6:35 p.m.
