STOCKTON, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team dropped its second straight road game with a 80-71 loss to Pacific Saturday night at the Spanos Center.

Two nights after suffering a 24-point loss at UC Davis, the Rainbow Warriors gave a decidedly better effort, but were ultimately undone by a six-minute stretch in the second half when Pacific went on a game-deciding 15-0 run.

With the win UOP (15-10, 9-4) took sole possession of second-place in the Big West standings over Hawai'i (15-11, 9-6 BWC). The Tigers improved to 11-2 at home this year, including a perfect 7-0 in league play.

After scoring a season-low six points at UC Davis on Thursday, Christian Standhardinger bounced back to lead UH with 20 points and nine rebounds. Isaac Fotu scored 12 points and Vander Joaquim added 10 points, but was held scoreless in the pivotal second half. Travis Fulton led three Tigers in double-figures with 23 points.

The first half was a tight affair with neither team leading by more than five points. UH was able to take a three-point lead at the break, powered by its frontcourt which came out on a mission. Standhardinger and Joaquim combined for 24 points as the team took a 36-33 lead into the locker room.

UH scored the first basket of the second half to take a 38-33 lead, but after that fell cold, allowing Pacific to take charge. The 'Bows went scoreless for more than six minutes, while the Tigers ran off 15 consecutive points, turning a five-point deficit into a 48-38 lead.

The 'Bows had worked some comeback magic in recent weeks on the road but the Tigers denied all UH efforts of a rally this time. UH came within seven points, 61-54, with 5:47 left, but the Tigers scored the next five points to push the lead back to double-digits and were never threatened again.

UH will now take a break from Big West action to return home and host Northern Arizona in a non-conference game on Saturday, Feb. 23. Tipoff is set for 5:00 p.m.
