Day 1 Results
PALM DESERT, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team is currently tied for fifth place following the first two rounds of the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate, Saturday at The Classic Club.
The Rainbow Wahine moved up from 12
th place after the first round to a tie for fifth following a second 297, the best round of the day. UH (611) trails leader Western Carolina by 10 strokes.
Freshman sensation
Izzy Leung is in third place, one stroke off the lead, after rounds of 74 and 70. She trails Cal Poly's Taylor Yoshitake and Cal State Northridge's Clariss Guce, who are 1-under 143 for the tournament.
Fellow freshman
Raquel Ek is tied for 22
nd at 9-over 153 (80-73). Also competing for the Rainbow Wahine are sophomore
Nichole Cruz (80-77/t48th), freshman
Brianna Becker (83-77/t63rd), and freshman
Kelli-Anne Katsuda (80-82/t74th).
The tournament concludes on Sunday.
